Tech - Sterile Processing Tech

Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Supervisor oversees all activities within the sterile processing department, ensuring efficient sterilization, decontamination, and inventory management. This leadership role requires supervising staff, maintaining compliance with industry standards, and supporting surgical case demands.

Responsibilities:

• Directly supervise Lead Technicians and Technicians across all SPD work areas, including decontamination, prep/pack, sterilization, and sterile storage.
• Assign daily workloads based on case volume, departmental priorities, and staffing needs.
• Oversee instrument tracking systems, documentation accuracy, and inventory control to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Collaborate with leadership on staff orientation, ongoing training, and departmental performance improvement initiatives.
• Monitor sterilization processes, tray turnaround times, and equipment functionality to meet surgical schedule demands.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, AAMI ST79, AORN guidelines, and CDC standards.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in sterile processing, including decontamination, sterilization, and instrumentation.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a sterile processing or healthcare environment.
• Certification such as CBSPD or CRCST required; BLS certification preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electronic instrument tracking systems and sterilization standards.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and manage workflow efficiently.
• Valid South Carolina RN license preferred; must be in good standing.
