They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. The RN practices in a clinical environment supported through a professional governance model. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set by professional nursing associations. As a member of the patient services team, the RN upholds the voice of the patient and system policies. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The RN performs the Nursing Process, including assessment, diagnosis, and planning. They provide relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. The RN coordinates care through effective partnerships and uses critical thinking to achieve optimal outcomes. They promote teamwork, collaboration, and respectful interdisciplinary communication. The RN participates in performance improvement and supports research to enhance patient care. Professional Development and Initiative: Completion of all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments is expected. The RN serves as a preceptor and mentor for other nurses and learners to ensure a qualified workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The RN promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. They participate in activities such as value analysis to evaluate patient care products. The RN ensures compliance with healthcare policies and standards, including safety goals. Resources and Support: The RN proactively plans for patient care across the continuum. They participate in the development of protocols and collaborate with care managers for best practice outcomes. The RN supports the efficient use of resources in providing patient care. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
