Maintenance Mechanic

Maintenance MechanicThe Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for assembling, maintaining, and repairing equipment and vehicles. Other duties include ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines, and mechanical systems throughout the company fleet of equipment. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirementsInspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issuesPerforms minor and major electrical/mechanical/welding repair of processing and support equipment and facility grounds.Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliabilityOrder and maintain necessary parts for equipment repairsCollaborate/communicate with Plant Manager and Supervisor on equipment repairs/downtime for planning of yard operationsTroubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely mannerPerform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systemsMaintain all safety devices and systems on equipment in accordance with regulations and Koppers Zero Harm principlesClean and apply lubricants to machinery componentsReplenish fluids and components of engines and machineryProvide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machineUndertake other duties as assignedMaintaining a clean and safe work environmentCandidate Qualifications/ Requirements3+ year experience & High School Diploma or equivalent; Preferred Technical School degreeWelding experience, Welding Certificate preferredExperience with air compressors, gear boxes, pumps, valves, hydraulics.Use of hand tools, power toolsHighly organized and detail oriented.Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Willingness to work varied hours whenever necessary to achieve the desired results, including call-ins and overtime.Strengths in the following character qualities: dependability, resourcefulness, patience and flexibility.Ability to work with various machines and toolsKnowledge of various types of heavy equipmentStrong mechanical knowledgeAbility to fill out logs on all equipment worked onMust have a safety-first mindsetKoppers Inc. and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity employers.
