Job Title: Sorter / General Laborer Job Description

This position performs general labor in a foundry environment, including removing excess metal from finished parts and sorting cleaned parts into designated bins. The role requires consistent, reliable performance in a physically demanding setting and close attention to quality and safety standards.

• Remove excess metal and casting material from finished parts using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Inspect parts after cleaning to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
• Sort cleaned and finished parts into correct bins or containers according to size, type, or production order.
• Handle, move, and position metal parts and castings throughout the work area.
• Lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
• Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment in the foundry environment.
• Work collaboratively with production team members to meet daily output and quality goals.
• Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or quality problems to the appropriate personnel promptly.

• At least 2 years of consistent work history in general labor, production, or a similar hands-on role.
• At least 2 years of experience working in a foundry, forge, metals, construction, or comparable industrial environment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Experience performing general labor tasks such as material handling, cleaning, and basic finishing work.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures.
• Reliability and strong work ethic in a physically demanding, industrial setting.

• Previous experience as a sorter or part sorter in a manufacturing or foundry environment.
• Background in metalworking, forging, or construction trades.
• Familiarity with basic hand tools and equipment used to knock off excess metal and clean castings.
• Ability to work effectively on a second shift schedule.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting and sorting parts.

This role operates in a foundry setting with exposure to metalworking processes, heat, noise, and industrial equipment. The position is scheduled on second shift, Monday through Friday, with work centered around production and part finishing activities. Team members work on their feet for most of the shift, regularly lifting and moving heavy parts and materials. Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided and required, and the environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures typical of a unionized industrial facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Milwaukee, WI.

The pay range for this position is $21.98 - $21.98/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
