Clinical Psychologist
Henry Ford Health
The Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) Outpatient (OP) Clinical Psychologist will join a growing multidisciplinary team of behavioral health specialists who provide trauma-informed assessment, psychotherapy and assertive case management services to survivors of trauma and violent crime. This unique program, the first of its kind in the state, creates a continuum of care for psychological recovery starting at the bedside in Henry Ford Hospital’s Level I Trauma Center with a seamless transition of care to the OP TRC at no cost to survivors. In addition to the direct provision of clinical services, the senior clinician will also provide clinical supervision, consultation and training to staff and trainees related to trauma-informed evidence-based psychological interventions. The clinician will also be involved in program development. Clinical interactions will take place primarily in an ambulatory clinic setting, with virtual, home and community visit options provided. Typical patient populations receiving TRC services include survivors of interpersonal violence, motor vehicle accidents, sexual assault/domestic violence, industrial accidents, and family members of survivors. In addition to clinical duties, the TRC OP Clinical Psychologist will work collaboratively with the Director of Trauma and Acute Care Surgical Psychology Services to ensure that all mental health procedures meet the needs of trauma survivors and standards for care. The incumbent will also work with the TRC Clinical Program Manager to determine clinic flow, scheduling and staff educational needs. Key Responsibilities Clinical: Conduct clinical intakes for new clients using a trauma-informed approach and identify service needs when appropriate. Assessment includes identifying presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status exam, risk assessment and DSM‑5 diagnoses. Provide short‑term trauma-informed evidence‑based individual and group psychotherapy, as needed crisis intervention, comprehensive case management, multidisciplinary collaboration, referral and accompaniment to community services. May visit patients at home and/or in the community for outreach and follow‑up if the patient cannot attend scheduled in‑office appointments. Work with a caseload of complex clients who have histories of exposure to trauma including acute and chronic physical and sexual abuse, interpersonal violence, political torture, immigration trauma, comorbid substance use and other psychosocial concerns. Consultation: Provide consultation to multidisciplinary treatment team regarding psychosocial sequelae of trauma, substance use, psychiatric illness and chronic medical concerns, and utilize knowledge of mental health, medical and community resources in Detroit/Wayne County. Program Development: Lead in preparing, planning and conducting in‑service trainings and case conferences. Organize and co‑teach a didactic Trauma Seminar on assessment and treatment of acute and chronic trauma in underserved populations. Conduct community presentations on trauma assessment and treatment. Administration & Record Keeping: Maintain client records per Michigan, City, County and system requirements; record data according to JCAHO standards. Meet program productivity standards. Assist in processing quality improvement requests and data collection for program evaluation and research. Other Duties: Attend staff meetings and other assigned meetings, participate in training sessions, supervise clinical staff and trainees, and perform related duties as assigned. Education and Certification Fully licensed, doctorate‑level clinical psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) with completion of an APA‑accredited pre‑doctoral internship and doctoral program. Experience and Knowledge Minimum one year of experience in an ambulatory care setting (including during training). Training or specialization in trauma‑informed care and trauma populations. Effective writing, communication and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications Research design and grant writing experience. Programmatic planning experience. HFH offers competitive compensation and a robust benefits package. #J-18808-Ljbffr
