Electrical Design Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager, Design Engineering , provides technical and strategic leadership for DEHN SE and DEHN, Inc. across internal teams (R&D, Product Management, Sales) as well as external partners, customers, and industry organizations. This role combines technical expertise with people management, ensuring engineering excellence, customer-focused solutions, and alignment with DEHN’s growth strategy in North America.

The Engineering Manager oversees the design engineering team, guiding task assignments, schedules, and technical quality. In addition to leading project execution, the Manager contributes to product development strategy, identifies opportunities for product enhancements, and ensures that DEHN’s technical solutions deliver long-term value to customers.

As part of the management team, the Engineering Manager plays a key role in strengthening DEHN’s market presence through technical leadership, standards participation, training initiatives, and close collaboration with sales to drive adoption of DEHN solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the design engineering team; manage task assignments, priorities, and project schedules.
• Provide technical leadership for electrical simulations (XGSlabs or similar finite element analysis tools) and design validation.
• Partner with Sales to promote DEHN solutions through technical applications, site visits, customer presentations, and trade show participation.
• Collaborate with the Vice President to expand NFPA 780 / UL 96A and surge protection product lines.
• Support new product design initiatives, product modifications, and long-term roadmap planning.
• Represent DEHN on industry standards committees; manage communication and
• alignment with DSE.
• Lead the development and delivery of technical training to strengthen DEHN’s leadership position in lightning and surge protection.
• Prepare technical reports, grounding studies, design documentation, and white papers to support customer engagement and thought leadership.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, NFPA, and LPI standards in system design and documentation.
• Work with the management team to define strategies, roadmaps, and tactical plans that align engineering capabilities with business objectives.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements :

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related technical discipline, with extensive electrical engineering experience.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering or application engineering.
• Previous experience leading engineering teams or projects.
• Clean driving record.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

• Proven experience in sales-support engineering or technically complex product/project environments.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present confidently to customers and industry groups.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM tools experience a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 25–50% (domestic and international, for training, site visits, and trade shows).
• Customer-focused mindset, integrity, adaptability, and collaborative approach.
• Ability to achieve certification in NFPA 780, LPI, and IEC 62305 standards.

Physical demands

• May occasionally require lifting, pulling, and carrying up to ten (10) pounds
• Frequent sitting, occasional bending, climbing, pulling, pushing, and reaching overhead
