Description The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) supports the Principal Investigator (PI) for research studies conducted in the SFVAHCS THRIVE Lab. The CRC performs clinical research activities within the scope of practice, ensuring that study activities are conducted according to protocols, regulations, and local site SOPs. Duties include coordinating and managing clinical studies, preparing protocols, designing flow sheets and data forms, gathering and interpreting medical and laboratory data, applying inclusion/exclusion criteria, recruiting, enrolling, registering, scheduling, and retaining participants, overseeing data collection and protocol‑specific treatments, and maintaining data quality. The CRC also prepares reports and tables, attends team meetings, and may perform additional assigned duties. Experience in human research and interest in pursuing graduate or medical school are preferred. Essential Functions Contributes to planning and organizing the clinical aspects of research studies. Identifies and coordinates interdisciplinary departments involved in study implementation. Provides in‑services and support to personnel involved in subject care and research activities. Prepares IRB submissions and reports, maintaining regulatory documents in compliance with SOP and GCP procedures. Screens subjects to evaluate eligibility according to protocol criteria; PI performs final eligibility approval. Conducts the informed consent process and documents the process per SFVAMC research policies. Manages study scheduling, including sessions, meetings, and phone calls. Collects, enters, cleans, and maintains study data, ensuring data quality. Recruits research participants and creates study materials. Aids in the management of IRB proposals, literature reviews, and manuscript preparation. Maintains reliable contact with faculty and informs PI of study updates. Job Requirements College graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to perform assigned duties. Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Windows. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment; strong project management and coordination skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines. Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with patients, co‑workers, and physicians. Working Conditions and Environment The work environment includes an indoor office and a medical research setting. Tasks may involve prolonged use of a computer terminal and occasional exposure to noise or temperature variations. The incumbent may stand or sit for extended periods. VA Onboarding Requirements NCIRE is an affiliate of the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS). Candidates must complete SFVA onboarding in addition to NCIRE onboarding, which includes a federal background check, occupational health clearance, required vaccinations, and drug testing. Drug testing may include screening for marijuana, an illegal substance under federal law. Failure to pass required testing disqualifies candidates. Compensation Base wage range: $25.24 – $40.60 per hour, with potential for additional compensation such as bonuses.
