HPE Non-Stop (Tandem) Mainframe DeveloperThe Senior Client Non-Stop Developer plays a pivotal role in the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of mission-critical applications running on HPE Non-Stop systems. This position supports the 24/7 operational demands of Client's train dispatching infrastructure, ensuring that software solutions meet the high-availability and fault-tolerance requirements.By developing and maintaining robust, scalable code for real-time train control systems, the Senior Developer directly contributes to the safe, efficient, and timely movement of trains across the national network.This role is essential to sustaining the reliability and performance of the core dispatching applications that underpin Client's operational continuity. The Senior Client Non-Stop Developer works on major projects providing subject matter expertise and technical direction and is also responsible for systems analysis, design, development, integration, and enhancement. Also involved in complex support issues. Works closely with customers, business analysts and team members to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and are in compliance with the organization's architectural standards.Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:Design, develop, and maintain fault-tolerant applications on HPE NonStop systems using TAL, C, or C++Build and support mission-critical software for real-time train control, dispatching, and crew scheduling.Develop and optimize database solutions using NonStop SQL/MX and SQL/MP.Integrate applications with Enscribe file systems and Pathway serverCommunicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across departmentsSupport modernization efforts through hybrid integration models (e.g., REST APIs, NS iTP WebServer)Deliverables:24x7 system availabilitySource code and compiled executables for HPE NonStop applicationsTACL automation scripts for operational tasksTechnical design and architecture documentationDeployment guides and configuration manualsRelease notes, version histories, and rollback proceduresUnit, integration, and performance test casesIssue resolution reports and root cause analysesPerformance monitoring, reporting, analysis and tuningSupport for escalated incidents (Severity 1, 2 ) and root cause analysisRequirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (required)Minimum 7 years of hands-on development experience on HPE NonStop (Tandem) platformsExpertise in application development on HPE NonStop systems using TAL, C, or C++ to build and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant solutions in 24/7 environmentsExperience in developing mission-critical applications for regulated or service-oriented industries with real-time requirementsExpertise in NonStop SQL/MX and SQL/MP databases, including schema design, query optimization, and ANSI-compliant SQL developmentFamiliarity with Enscribe file structures and integration with Pathway server-based applicationsProficiency in system performance analysis, with the ability to identify bottlenecks and improve transaction throughput and responsivenessExpertise in incident response and troubleshooting, ensuring rapid resolution of production issues to maintain uptime and continuityFamiliarity with structured change management practices, including software release planning, patch deployment, and rollback strategiesProficiency in creating and maintaining technical documentation, ensuring alignment with internal development standards and regulatory complianceExpertise in secure development practices, with awareness of audit, data protection, and industry-specific security requirementsFamiliarity with release management workflows, including accurate task estimation, dependency tracking, and resource allocationProficiency in cross-functional collaboration, working closely with QA, operations, and development teams to deliver secure, scalable solutionsDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, across technical and non-technical stakeholdersPreferred HPE Nonstop technical certification:10 years of hands-on development experience on HPE NonStop (Tandem) platformsExperience in mission-critical transportation, logistics, or dispatching systemsExposure to hybrid integration models (e.g., Non-Stop to REST API architectures, iTPWebServer, NS experience working in environments governed by strict SLAs and regulatory standardsEqual Opportunity & Inclusion Statement:Cogent Infotech is an equal opportunity employer.
