Job Title: PART TIME Phlebotomist

Job Description

The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role requires expertise in blood draws, specimen labeling, and patient data updating.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens as required.
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures.
• Update patient information and ensure proper storage of specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow all physician orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as necessary for test orders.
• Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department training sessions.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Essential Skills

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, where required.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab, clinic or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Phlebotomy - at least 1 year of verifiable experience.
• Experience drawing on all age groups.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Saturday from 5 am to 9 am at an IOP Behavioral Health Center . You will work 4 hours a day, 6 days a week for a total of 24 hours a week and conduct 15-25 draws per day, working with patients aged 4-75. Although you will be drawing alone, you will work alongside nurses and other clinic staff.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Colorado Springs,CO.
