Data Center Infrastructure Engineer

Description Hybrid 2-3 days in Washington, DC The Data Center Infrastructure Engineer will design and sustain mission‑critical data center environments for the federal sector. The role will support secure, high‑availability operations across servers, storage, networking, and facility systems. The engineer will contribute hands‑on expertise to improve reliability, performance, resiliency, and operational excellence in high‑visibility environments. The position requires disciplined execution, clear risk communication, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen with an active Top Secret clearance. This is a full‑time, permanent opportunity, offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Qualified applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. Salary: $170,000 - $230,000/ yr. w2 Responsibilities Use enterprise data center technologies to manage and operate servers, storage, networking, and power systems supporting mission‑critical environments. Support and sustain high‑availability operations by monitoring infrastructure health, responding to incidents, and troubleshooting complex hardware and facility issues. Design, implement, and improve data center infrastructure solutions that increase reliability, performance, and resiliency. Participate in Agile execution, planning, and technical discussions with hands‑on contributions. Identify risks, constraints, and capacity concerns and communicate mitigation strategies and recommendations. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to execute infrastructure changes safely and with minimal operational impact. Apply best practices for security, availability, and operational excellence in secure environments. Establish and maintain customer trust through disciplined execution, ownership, and technical excellence. Experience Requirements Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility. DoD 8140 certification aligned to the 451 System Administrator work role, such as Security+, Cloud+, SSCP, CASP+, or CISSP. 8+ years designing, implementing, and managing geographically dispersed data center infrastructure in enterprise or mission‑critical environments. Proven experience ensuring reliability, scalability, and efficiency of data center operations, including servers, storage, networking, power, and environmental resource requirements. Hands‑on administration of virtualized data center platforms, including VMware or equivalent enterprise virtualization technologies. Operational experience managing compute, storage, and network infrastructure, including capacity planning, performance optimization, and lifecycle management. Experience supporting high‑availability data center operations, including monitoring, fault isolation, and incident response. Ability to contribute immediately with minimal ramp‑up in a mission‑critical operational environment. VMware VCP-DCV or equivalent data center platform certification and Security+. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field. Relevant experience may substitute where appropriate. Security+ certification.
