Description

American Traveler seeks a CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant with 3-4 years of cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgery experience for a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital.

Details

Acute care hospital setting with CVOR, acute inpatient OR, and outpatient OR responsibilities

Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds

Averages 8 cases per day

Day shift schedule (4x10 hours, 6:15am-4:45pm)

Call rotation from Friday end of shift (4:45pm) through Monday morning (6:15am), occurring once every 3-4 weeks

On-call required 1-2 times per week and every 3-4 weekends

Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed

Cerner charting system used, experience preferred

Scrubs provided by the unit

Requirements

3-4 years of experience required

BLS certification required; ACLS preferred

AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted

License required if applicable

Teaching hospital and Level I/II trauma experience required

Experience in acute inpatient OR, CVOR, and outpatient OR settings required

Cardiac, general, thoracic, and vascular surgery case experience required

Cardiovascular procedure experience required including CABG, mitral valve replacement, and pericardial window

Vascular procedure experience required including AAA repair, AV fistula repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral popliteal bypass graft, and vein stripping

Endoscopic procedure experience required including bronchoscopy, EGD, laparoscopic assisted cases, and PEG tube placement/exchange

Trauma experience required including amputations and gunshot/stab wounds

Equipment experience required with case cart, drills, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources/cords

Proficiency in aseptic technique, isolation precautions, and laser safety required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

First-time travelers accepted

Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction

Candidates with a pending license accepted

RTO requests ideally limited to 5 days or fewer

Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays

Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler

Travel pairs not accepted

Housing in the area may be limited, so early housing search is recommended

Compliance requirements including lab appointment, DocuSign documents, and badge photo must be completed within 1 week of contract signing

Fingerprinting required prior to start for roles not requiring licensure at submission

Pre-start training modules required, renewed annually, with login information provided prior to start

First day of assignment is a virtual, at-home orientation requiring completion of assigned modules by 4:00 PM CST
