NEW IN - Associate Attorney | Community Development Transactions and Real Estate Associate | Massachusetts Hybrid | NMTC and HTC deal work

A confidential U.S. law firm with a highly focused affordable housing and community development transactional practice is seeking a junior to mid-level Associate Attorney to join its Boston-area team. This role offers hands-on responsibility supporting sophisticated real estate and finance transactions that help bring community development projects to closing, with meaningful exposure to tax credit structures.

THE ROLE

• Support and help lead closings for complex real estate and finance transactions in the community development space

• Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents, including entity, real estate, and financing documentation

• Assist with structuring and documenting transactions involving New Markets Tax Credits and Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits, as well as related state tax credit programs

• Coordinate deal execution across internal teams and external parties, including lenders, investors, developers, and public-sector stakeholders

• Perform transactional diligence and manage closing checklists, deliverables, and timelines

• Provide practical, solutions-oriented support on affordable housing development and preservation transactions

LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

Location:

Massachusetts (Boston area)

Schedule:

Hybrid, in office 3 days per week (at least 3 days per week in office during onboarding for approximately 90 days)

Compensation:

Base salary range: $193,000 to $230,000

REQUIREMENTS

• 2 to 4 years of attorney experience (more experienced candidates may be considered)

• Active Massachusetts bar admission

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

• Experience closing complex real estate and/or corporate transactions

• Demonstrated interest in affordable housing and community development work

• Strong academic credentials and excellent drafting, communication, and transactional skills

• Comfortable working effectively in a hybrid environment

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

• Prior experience with affordable housing transactions and/or community development deals

• Familiarity with New Markets Tax Credits, Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits, real estate finance, public housing revitalization, and/or HUD-assisted housing

• Experience working on multi-state development matters
