Assistant Store Manager

Role Overview The Assistant Store Manager supports store operations with a customer-first focus, assisting the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing merchandise, and ensuring store presentation aligns with company standards. They perform stocking, cashiering, and deposit functions to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while safeguarding assets. Key Responsibilities Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting shoppers, operating cash registers, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. Help with employee scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance. Manage merchandise receiving, stocking, rotating, and display setup, following company planograms. Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, and paperwork. Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, cash handling, and deposit procedures. Assist in store management during the Store Manager’s absence. Qualifications & Skills Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational attention to detail. Ability to interpret manuals, safety rules, and procedures. Proficiency in math, cash register functions, and report generation. Knowledge of cash handling, security, and safety policies. Ability to drive for bank deposits and store-related travel. Experience & Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred. At least one year of retail experience and six months of supervisory experience preferred. Working Conditions Frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 55 pounds, climbing, and working in a fast-paced environment.
