The Fatherhood Specialist plays a critical role in supporting and empowering fathers to become actively engaged, responsible, and nurturing parents. This position focuses on developing and implementing programs that promote positive father involvement, enhance parenting skills, and strengthen family relationships. The specialist collaborates with community organizations, social service agencies, and families to provide education, resources, and advocacy tailored to the unique needs of fathers. By fostering a supportive environment, the Fatherhood Specialist helps reduce barriers to father engagement and promotes healthy child development. Ultimately, this role contributes to building stronger families and communities through the active participation of fathers. What you will do:

The Fatherhood Specialist plays a critical role in supporting and empowering fathers to become actively engaged, responsible, and nurturing parents. This position focuses on developing and implementing programs that promote positive father involvement, enhance parenting skills, and strengthen family relationships. The specialist collaborates with community organizations, social service agencies, and families to provide education, resources, and advocacy tailored to the unique needs of fathers. By fostering a supportive environment, the Fatherhood Specialist helps reduce barriers to father engagement and promotes healthy child development. Ultimately, this role contributes to building stronger families and communities through the active participation of fathers. What you will do:
- Conducts outreach and recruitment efforts in collaboration with community partners.
- Schedules and coordinates case management visits with fathers.
- Builds trust with and helps fathers identify their desires, needs, and challenges and works in collaboration with other service providers to develop goals, appropriate strategies, and linkages to community resources.
- Provides one-on-one support and guidance in the form of case management to fathers related to parenting, family challenges, and self-sufficiency in identifying and accessing community services.
- Establishes and maintains confidential records of each father/family and follows policies and procedures of CDR and the Administration for Children and Families, including screening for signs of domestic violence and reporting signs of abuse/neglect, as appropriate.
- Facilitates fatherhood workshop sessions, including planning, instruction, and evaluation. Some workshops may occur in the evenings.
- Makes referrals to community agencies as needed to include employment counseling/training, financial counseling, housing assistance, childcare, family, and individual counseling services, etc.
- Works with the Project Director and other program staff to plan work scope, monitor timelines, and review evaluation data to ensure the success of the program.
- Provides professional insights and advice regarding project services to fathers and families.
- Participates in meetings and consults regularly with supervisor to discuss progress and issues.
- Maintains records and data including service delivery documentation, evaluation measures, mileage, and other related documentation.
- Identifies plans with supervisor for meeting individual professional development needs.
- Attends and participates in ACF-sponsored grantee meetings, local meetings and conferences as directed.
- High school diploma or equivalene
- Experience with presenting/facilitating workshops or classes; Zoom and other methods of virtual workshop presentation preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; internet; Email
- Familiar with the structure and requirements of a grant-funded program and nonprofit organizations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must have the flexibility to provide some evening workshops.
