About the Role
The Company is in search of a Head of Engineering Strategy to play a pivotal role in the evolution and modernization of its engineering organization. The successful candidate will be a deeply technical and highly collaborative leader, responsible for driving cross-engineering technical strategy, modernization, standards, and major initiatives. This role is not traditional in the sense of people management; instead, it focuses on technical leadership, bringing together strong engineering voices, and ensuring the successful implementation of important technical initiatives. The Head of Engineering Strategy will work closely with senior engineers and technical leads, leveraging their deep knowledge of the platform, and will be instrumental in the adoption of modern engineering practices, AI-assisted development tools, and new technologies that enhance speed, quality, and developer effectiveness. Applicants for the Head of Engineering Strategy position at the company should have a strong hands-on software engineering background, significant experience in senior technical leadership, and a deep understanding of software architecture, engineering practices, and scalable SaaS systems. The role requires an individual with exceptional awareness of current and emerging engineering technologies, particularly in the AI and developer tooling space, and a proven track record of driving engineering-wide initiatives. The ideal candidate will be deeply technical, current, pragmatic, and execution-oriented, with the ability to lead and influence experienced engineers. Strong technical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance strong technical opinions with respect for existing systems and teams are essential. Success in this role will be measured by the effective and consistent use of AI-assisted development practices, the clear strategy and adoption of unit and automated testing, and the overall improvement in engineering efficiency, quality, and reliability.
