Radiography LeadLeads staff in performing a full range of screening and diagnostic imaging procedures to provide optimum information for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.Minimum QualificationsEducation, Certification, and/or Licensure:Certification in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic TechnologistCertification in Mammography with the American Registry of Radiologic TechnologistMust possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided:MD: Radiographer license through the Maryland Board of PhysiciansOH: Radiographer license through the Ohio Board of RadiologyPA: No state license is requiredWV: Radiography License through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board.Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire.Experience:Three (3) years' experience in Mammographic Imaging.Core Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Other duties may be assigned.Leads mammography staff to insure the optimum in imaging procedures as indicated by image quality, repeat analysis, audits and/or patient follow up.Coordinates and schedules staff to facilitate the daily operations.Identifies peak flow times and supports the mammography technologist to minimize patient wait times.Supports staff by promoting cooperative problem solving and team building.Plans the performance of the imaging procedure based on needs of the patient.Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff by shielding and correctly selecting exposure factors.Evaluates images compliance with protocol, image density, contrast, detail, positioning, compression and absence of image artifact. Assures proper patient identification appears on every image.Educates patients regarding mammographic procedures by explaining the procedure and answering questions accordingly.Documents imaging activities accurately and consistently in accordance with ACR and federal mandates.Engages in problem solving, crisis management, and systems implementation with physicians, nursing, technical and support personnel throughout the hospital.Performs a full range of mammographic processing and imaging quality control tests in accordance with ACR technologist's manual guidelines and documents them in the Mammography Quality Control Test binder.Displays imaging techniques, patient care and guest relation behaviors in accordance with standard policies and procedures.Reports equipment failures immediately upon identification.Maintains clean, neat and well stocked procedure areaPrepares contrast agents, specific pharmaceuticals and sterile trays and devices for invasive mammographic proceduresPerforms all duties of a mammography tech as needed.Maintains MQSA compliance.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
