We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and results-driven Executive Director to lead our Assisted Living and Memory Care community.

Position Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the Assisted Living and Memory Care community. This position oversees all departments, ensures regulatory compliance, drives occupancy and financial performance, develops team members, and fosters a culture centered on excellent resident care and customer service.

The Executive Director serves as the primary leader of the community and is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality, resident satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership

• Provide visionary leadership that supports the organization's mission, vision, and values.

• Foster a positive, respectful, and resident-centered culture.

• Lead by example while promoting professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and integrity.

• Build strong relationships with residents, families, physicians, referral partners, vendors, and community organizations.

Operations

• Direct all day-to-day operations of the Assisted Living and Memory Care community.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing assisted living communities.

• Maintain community readiness for state surveys and inspections.

• Ensure resident rights are protected and upheld at all times.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

• Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure monthly emergency and fire drills are completed.

Financial Management

• Develop and manage annual operating budgets.

• Monitor financial performance, labor costs, occupancy, and expenses.

• Review monthly financial reports and implement corrective action plans when necessary.

• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while maintaining quality care.

Occupancy & Business Development

• Drive occupancy through community outreach and relationship development.

• Maintain strong relationships with hospitals, physicians, case managers, senior service organizations, and referral sources.

• Conduct community tours with prospective residents and families.

• Develop marketing initiatives that increase visibility within the community.

Human Resources & Team Development

• Recruit, hire, train, coach, and retain high-performing team members.

• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development.

• Ensure staffing levels meet resident needs and regulatory requirements.

• Promote employee recognition, engagement, and retention initiatives.

• Address employee concerns and resolve workplace conflicts promptly and professionally.

• Support a positive work environment built on communication, respect, and teamwork.

Resident & Family Relations

• Ensure exceptional customer service for residents and families.

• Respond promptly and professionally to resident and family concerns.

• Promote resident satisfaction through consistent communication and quality services.

• Collaborate with department leaders to ensure individualized resident care and quality of life.

Community Maintenance & Safety

• Oversee preventative maintenance programs.

• Ensure buildings and grounds remain clean, safe, and well-maintained.

• Coordinate repairs and capital improvement projects as needed.

• Ensure emergency preparedness plans remain current and effective.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in leadership meetings and ongoing professional development.

• Remain knowledgeable regarding changes in senior living regulations and industry best practices.

• Assist in community events and resident activities when appropriate.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Must be at least 21 years of age .

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Gerontology, or a related field preferred.

• Equivalent education and leadership experience in senior living may be considered.

• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living, or other senior housing environments.

• Demonstrated experience managing operations, budgets, staffing, and occupancy.

• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Valid Arizona Driver License.

Licensure

• Current Arizona Assisted Living Manager (ALM) License required.

• Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience overseeing both Assisted Living and Memory Care operations.

• Proven success increasing occupancy and employee retention.

• Strong understanding of Arizona Department of Health Services regulations.

• Experience leading regulatory surveys with successful outcomes.

• Budgeting and financial management experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk throughout the community daily.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

• Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the workday.

• Ability to respond to emergency situations as needed.
