Position: Paratransit Bus Driver, Adult Day Services Location: Torrance Hours: Full‑time – Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm. Must be flexible to work outside program hours for special events. Hourly Starting Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour plus full benefits. Overview of Position Safely transports passengers on assigned routes in accordance with all applicable regulations and organizational policies. Operates paratransit vehicles designed to accommodate individuals with diverse mobility needs while providing courteous, professional service. Ensures passenger safety, vehicle readiness and compliance with state and federal safety standards at all times. Responsibilities Transport passengers during assigned outings. Ensure health and safety of passengers by following all ESSC safety standards and California Vehicle Code policy. Maintain pre‑use inspection log, safety log and daily mileage log. Report accidents, injuries or safety violations to supervisor promptly. Maintain a clean and safe environment for passengers. Operate paratransit buses with a weight of 14,000lbs. or greater and capacity of 16 or more passengers. Support multiple sites with pre‑arranged trip destinations. Perform other assignments as required that may need the employee’s expertise, knowledge or ability. Qualifications \ Education and Certifications High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Valid CPR and First‑Aid certifications. Valid ClassB Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement. Compliance with CHP (California Highway Patrol) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Ability to obtain a VDDP (Vehicle Driver Disability Program) from CHP/paratransit services. Experience 2‑5 years of prior experience operating paratransit vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 14,000lbs. or greater. Ability to operate vehicles with 16+ passenger capacity. Strong working knowledge of GPS navigation. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of staff and the general public. Consistent demonstration of good judgment and decision‑making skills. Ability to properly interpret and implement all policies, procedures and safety regulations. Physical ability to lift up to 70lbs. repeatedly and to walk, stoop, stand, kneel for extended periods. Ability to push/pull wheelchairs on a variety of terrain. Ability to obtain fingerprint clearance from Community Care Licensing if required. Ability to pass post‑offer medical examination. Physical Requirements in Accordance with ADA Carrying/Lifting: Frequent, up to 70lbs. (repetitive). Standing: Frequent, up to 4hours per day. Sitting: Occasional, up to 3hours per day. Walking: Frequent, up to 4hours per day. Travel: Yes. Repetitive motion/activity: Ability to walk, stoop, stand, kneel for extended periods. Visual acuity: Ability to view computer monitor and read newsprint.
