Product Design Engineer

Who we are Voyage is a Maison for Mind Computing — the first deep tech couture house, engineering non-invasive neural interfaces as objects of desire. With a founding team from Apple, MIT Media Lab, Harvard, the Royal College of Art and more, we blend frontier science with cultural gravity to create technology that is equally functional, aesthetically refined, and highly adoptable. All team members are known as 'Technical Philosophers' and collaborate at the intersection of hardware, AI/ML, neuro, design, and philosophy of mind. Applicants can expect a creative, experimental environment focused on pushing the boundaries of human–machine interaction. Nobody keeps wearing something they\'re embarrassed by, no matter how well it works. So our first principle is desire. You\'re the translation layer between what the sensor stack physically needs and what someone\'s actually willing to put on their body, every day, for years. Proportion, materiality, how a strap sits against skin over a full day of wear – these are structural constraints, as real as tolerances and DFM, not a styling pass tacked on at the end. We are looking for a product design engineer who blends form, human factors / ergonomics, and mechanical rigor — someone who can shape a raw sensor stack into a “Maisonic” object people want to wear, and own the path from concept to manufacturable reality. This is a physical design role with a strong bias toward tangible reality over concepts: you\'ll spend more time with prototypes, materials, and fit than with renderings. What we need Strong industrial design fundamentals – form, proportion, materiality Deep grounding in human factors/ergonomics – headform and body variance, wearable fit, comfort over long wear durations Working mechanical engineering knowledge and DFM/DFA fluency – able to reason about tolerances, assembly, and manufacturability, not just hand sketches to someone else Materials fluency for skin-contact wearables (hydrogels, elastomers, biocompatible polymers, textiles) CAD fluency (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino) and rapid prototyping (3D printing, CNC, casting) Who we\'re looking for People with an eye for how objects carry desire and intimacy – this is as much a Maison as it is a hardware company, and the design work has to hold up under both readings at once. Prior experience in wearables, eyewear, jewelry, or medical devices is a strong plus. We\'re looking for a multitalented physical designer over a traditional mechanical engineer. On Voyage Right now that means taking what exists as sensor modules and breadboard-stage electronics and giving it a coherent physical language – proportion, materiality, how it actually sits against a head over a full day.
