Locums | Rural Emergency Medicine | Valdez, AK (IMLC accepted) Why This Role

• Family Practice with rural health experience welcome (ED, hospitalist, OB)
Assignment Details
• Start: July 16, 2026, ongoing
• Current defined blocks (additional dates expected):
- July 16 - August 10 - August 19 - 28 - October dates also probable
• Schedule: ~4 x 10-hour shifts/week, 8a-6p plus night call
• Call: Overnight beeper, 20-minute response, ~20% call-back
• Volume: ~4 patients/shift
• Setting: Critical access hospital (Level 4 trauma)
• Support: 3 RNs, 1 MA, no APP
• EMR: Epic
• Credentialing: ~90 days (expedited privileging being prioritized)
• Onsite hospital apartments provided (no pets)
• Travel: fly into Anchorage, then regional flight or ground shuttle to Valdez
Clinical Details
• Broad-scope rural medicine: ED, outpatient/primary care, OB/c-section if needed in emergency
• Newborn deliveries received in ED (no L&D department)
• Patients transferred out as appropriate
• Limited 24-hour subspecialty support (no anesthesia, surgery, cath lab, or radiology overnight)
Requirements
• Board Certified (EM or Family Practice with rural health experience preferred)
• Active AK license or IMLC
• ACLS, ATLS, BLS, PALS
• Rural health experience preferred
Compensation
• Rate caps apply per facility
• Malpractice provided
• Travel and lodging reimbursed
