Job Description and Duties

The Accounting and Automation Support Bureau is recruiting a motivated self-starter seeking a challenging, exciting, and friendly working environment with a variety of work assignments at the Student Assistant (SA) level. This position learns to assist with professional accounting duties by requesting and organizing data; auditing and analyzing data; and posting accounting transactions. The SA learns to perform various reconciliations for general ledger accounts, funds, and internal records as they relate to the maintenance of California Department of Social Services' fiscal integrity for ensuring timely disbursements, accounts receivable invoices, and reporting of state and federal funds.

The Department of Social Services does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50 and Highway 80.
