About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg/Tele Duration: 9 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 (6:45 am to 7:15 pm) Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med Surg/Tele License: Licensed RN able to practice in the State of MS Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale, Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Experience in patient care and nursing processes Description: The Registered Nurse performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator. The nurse is delegated an assignment to achieve quality patient care. The Registered Nurse implements the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner. This process includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator, physicians, and ancillary staff is essential. Documentation in the Patient Care Record and direct observation is required. The Registered Nurse is responsible to the Patient Care Coordinator for patient care and accounts to the Nurse Manager. Other duties may be assigned by the Patient Care Coordinator or Patient Care Manager. The nurse will demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. They must assess and intervene appropriately when a patient’s condition worsens. Technical skills required include administering medications and starting intravenous access. Maintenance of intravenous lines and Foley catheters is also necessary. The nurse will perform venipuncture, administer blood products, and apply and monitor restraints. Sterile dressing changes and both complex and routine treatments as ordered by physicians are required. Technical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment used in patient care is essential. Patient positioning and assistance using various devices must be performed safely. Thorough, concise, and timely documentation and bedside shift reports are expected. Effective communication of pertinent patient information to the healthcare team is crucial. Maintaining clinical skills and staying current in competencies and certifications is required. The nurse should embrace and practice a culture of caring in all interactions. Implementing a systematic and comprehensive plan of care to provide individualized care is essential. The role involves prompt intervention when clinical changes occur and prevention of complications. Adherence to and promotion of values such as customer service, safety, and compliance standards is expected. Demonstrating financial responsibility by using supplies efficiently is part of the role. The nurse will work 36 hours over 48-hour schedules or all 48-hour workweeks. Every other weekend work is required. No scheduling restrictions are in place. Employees must maintain a professional appearance, including natural or neutral hair colors.
