About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg/Tele Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12.5 hours Experience: Two years experience in Med Surg/Tele License: Licensed RN able to practice in the State of MS Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale, Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: - Patient care experience - Nursing process knowledge - Assessment skills - Planning and intervention skills Description: The Registered Nurse performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator. The RN receives an assignment to achieve quality patient care. The RN implements the nursing process in an organized and systematic manner. This includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Collaboration occurs with the Patient Care Coordinator, Physicians, and ancillary staff. Documentation in the Patient Care Record reflects this collaboration. The RN is responsible for patient care, accountable to the Nurse Manager. Other duties may be assigned to the RN by the Patient Care Coordinator or Patient Care Manager. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population served. Assesses and intervenes appropriately when a patient’s condition worsens. Possesses knowledge of growth and development principles. Interprets data relevant to each patient’s specific needs. Provides the necessary care for individual patient requirements. Demonstrates technical skills required for patient populations. This includes administering medications, starting intravenous access, and maintaining intravenous lines. The RN performs venipuncture, blood product administration, and sterile dressing changes. Demonstrates technical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting. This includes devices such as telemetry monitoring and wound vacuum systems. Safely positions and assists patients using various devices. Communicates pertinent patient information to the healthcare team effectively. Maintains clinical skills and stays current with ongoing competencies. Embraces and practices a caring philosophy in all interactions. Implements a comprehensive plan of care tailored to individual patient needs. Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with others. Adheres to and promotes established organizational values. Demonstrates a commitment to compassionate care and teamwork. Utilizes supplies efficiently, ensuring timely patient discharges. Maintains minimal incremental overtime. Demonstrates the ability to provide individualized care and prevent complications. Required skills include patient care, nursing processes, assessment, planning, and intervention. Additional skills are related to specific treatments and monitoring devices. The RN must possess the ability to perform complex and routine treatments as ordered.
