Assistant/Associate Professor in Pharmacology and Toxicology Job ID: 298253 Location: Augusta University Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Job Summary Job ID 298253 Position # 20000792 The Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The department is seeking a new colleague with an emphasis on molecular and cellular neuropharmacology, although outstanding candidates in any discipline are encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in candidates whose research might complement the existing strengths in our department in molecular pharmacology, neurological and psychiatric disorders (e.g., Alzheimer's disease, movement disorders, drug abuse, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia). Applicants with relevant expertise in drug discovery and development, systems biology, and/or cell signaling are also encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Research Establish vigorous independent extramurally funded research programs to complement research strengths and goals of the department and university. Develop new methods and technology and work collaboratively with others in the laboratory and in the department. Teaching Participate in teaching programs for professional and graduate students as well as all other academic and scholarly functions within the department and university. Service Participate in institutional and public service. Other Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent from an accredited college or university. Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training. Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
