Shift: 1p - 1a, working 5/2 schedule on Wednesdays and Thursdays

Hours/Week: 36-40+ hours

Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI or MOAB, NIHSS required

Experience: Minimum 1 year ER/ED experience (2+ years for first-time travelers)

Pay Rate: $46.90/hour

What You'll Do

• Provide emergency care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to geriatrics
• Assess patient conditions including respiratory distress, diabetic emergencies, strokes, chest pain, minor traumas, and mental health crises
• Perform critical nursing actions such as IV starts, medication administration, and clinical assessments
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including charge nurses, RT, hospitalists, and ED educators
• Document patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse EMR system
• Support ER patient throughput and safety initiatives
• Maintain certification and compliance standards, including passing an EKG competency exam

What You Need

Required:

• Current RN license in Louisiana or ability to obtain license promptly
• 1+ years ED/ER experience
• Certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI/MOAB, and NIHSS
• Ability to pass EKG competency exam

Preferred:

• Experience working with a high-volume ER environment
• Strong critical thinking and multitasking skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

About the Assignment This assignment is located at a well-respected hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, featuring 19 single beds and 6 Fast Track areas. The ER handles a broad spectrum of acute care including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and mental health cases. The unit is traveler-friendly with a collaborative team environment and modern equipment, including EMR Meditech Expanse and Alaris IV pumps. You will work alongside RTs, hospitalists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality emergency care. The schedule involves every other weekend and holidays, with orientation to ensure you're set up for success from day one.
