Job Title Managing Director of Development - Quinlan School of Business Location Chicago-Water Tower Campus, University of Loyola Chicago, Development Business School (03636A) Job Summary The position will lead short- and long-range development activities on behalf of the Quinlan School of Business (QSB). It will manage a team responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors for major, planned, and leadership annual gifts in support of the school. The Managing Director will align and integrate unit-based efforts with the LUC Office of University Advancement’s priorities and collaborate with QSB’s academic leadership to seek philanthropic support for education and research missions. Responsibilities Lead a team responsible for planning and implementing campaign fundraising strategies on behalf of QSB with a primary focus on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing major and principal gifts. Set and achieve multi-year fundraising growth goals and metrics for QSB; partner with the Dean and academic leadership to identify fundraising priorities that align with the School’s and University’s strategic plan. Partner with Advancement colleagues to allocate resources required to be successful. Personally manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, secure a requisite volume of major gifts, and oversee their stewardship. Ensure the long-term sustainable growth of that portfolio through data- and relationship-driven qualification efforts. Support volunteer leadership groups for QSB, with particular focus on the Dean’s Board of Advisers. Collaborate with colleagues across University Advancement to drive key performance indicators relating to the year-over-year growth of fundraising progress for QSB. Nurture a culture of commitment to data integrity, lead in observing division-wide processes, and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 7–10 years of significant development leadership experience, preferably in higher education or another major cultural, healthcare, or civic setting. Proven quantifiable track record of personally developing, soliciting, and closing seven-figure gifts. Demonstration of 3–5 years of tenure and longevity at previous employers; history of promotions within organizations is preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience building, managing, and holding teams of gift officers accountable. Excellent knowledge of the principles of fundraising; comprehensive understanding of principal and major gifts, annual giving, corporate/foundation relations, prospect management, budget oversight, and excellent interpersonal communications and team‑building skills. Demonstrated ability to formulate strategic plans, implement programs, and evaluate the success of these initiatives; ability to staff the President/CEO, Trustees, or other executive leadership in executing major gift strategies. Clear understanding of and appreciation for the mission, goals, and objectives of private higher education and Loyola University Chicago. Direct experience in a complex institution with multiple academic units is extremely advantageous. A proven commitment to diversity and demonstrated success in recruiting, retaining, and building a diverse development team. Computer Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, internet and email applications, and knowledge and experience with databases. Compensation Position Minimum Salary: $170,000 per annum Position Maximum Salary: $190,000 per annum Other Requirements Work Modality: Hybrid – 4 In‑Person days. Supervisory responsibilities: Yes.
