Host/Cashier - On Call

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager and Assistant Manager, the Food & Beverage Host/Cashier’s primary responsibility is to greet guests in a courteous, timely, and professional manner while ensuring the outlet is clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times and tendering all monetary transactions. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard. Core Job Responsibilities The Host Person assists Food Servers, Bus Persons, and Food Service Runners with guest contact and table information. Estcorts guests to tables using established rotation criteria. Conveys special orders, cake orders, and special requests to management. Maintains knowledge of scheduled daily activities, in‑house groups, daily house count, table/seat/station numbers, proper table set‑ups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range, and dress code. Greets guests promptly as they enter the restaurant. Answers the telephone and facilitates guest requests. Ensures menus have proper inserts and are current according to the most recent change, replacing any menus in poor condition. Communicates the needs of the guests to the kitchen and management, informs management of guest reactions and comments, and assists management as needed to ensure smooth operation and quality service. Frequently checks back with guests waiting to be seated, making it evident they have not been forgotten and that tables are being prepared for them. Monitors and maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas; shuts down podium and forwards phones to voice‑loop at end of shift. Operates the POS system. Handles money and credit transactions. Notifies the manager on duty of any guest concerns. Performs other job‑related duties as requested. Qualifications High volume restaurant management or supervisory experience required. Basic knowledge of computer software including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment such as telephone, copier, and fax machine. Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills. Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts. High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of related experience. Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. Alcohol Awareness Card. Health Card. Minimum age requirement is 21. Experience working in a similar resort setting preferred. Physical Demands High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of Food & Beverage Cashier or equivalent experience in a cash handling position. Experience in a high volume food outlet. Experience with touch screens. Experience working in a similar resort setting. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality. May be exposed to smoke. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Constant contact with executives, department management, employees, and guests. Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility. Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions; lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally. Eye/hand coordination. Use of standard office equipment. May be required to work evening, weekends, and holiday shifts. Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of the minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
