Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This position functions within the Urgent Care Department to assist patients and medical staff in an ambulatory care setting, responsible for the overall operation of the clinic. The RN will maintain skill sets, annual competencies, certifications, and participate in in-services and educational programs as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services in collaboration with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure high-quality care and services.
• Lead and direct clinic staff, ensuring the efficient operation of all clinic aspects, including front desk and patient care.
• Maintain medication inventory and supplies that are not part of the Warehouse PAR system.
• Conduct necessary quality control checks for Point of Care tests.
• Document all care and services accurately and timely, fulfilling nursing duties professionally.
• Oversee the opening and closing procedures of provider clinics.
• Assist providers and staff proactively, anticipating the needs to promote efficient and quality patient care.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to be a reliable resource for patients, providers, and clinic staff.

Education and Certifications

• Current, full, and unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Two years of urgent care experience required.
• Knowledge of the nursing process with practical application in the work environment.
• Understanding of customer service principles and safety/infection control principles.

Skills

• Ability to complete patient assessments, anticipate needs, and perform specimen collection.
• Proficient in using computers and medical equipment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Able to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-player mentality with a willingness to teach and assist others.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to foster positive relationships with colleagues and departments.
• Willingness to seek assistance when faced with new or challenging situations.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently stands, walks, sits, uses hands to handle or feel, and reaches with hands and arms. Occasional requirements include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
