Senior Manager: Manufacturing - Material Handling

Amgen seeks a Senior Manager of Manufacturing – Material Handling to lead 24/7 GMP operations at an advanced drug substance facility in North Carolina. The role involves developing material handling teams, managing warehouse-to-manufacturing logistics, ensuring inventory control compliance, and driving operational readiness during facility startup and commercial production.
Responsibilities
- Lead material handling organization through facility startup and commercial GMP operations
- Oversee 24/7 GMP material receipt, staging, movement, storage, and inventory control
- Develop front-line managers and ensure team training and compliance across material handling
- Ensure material flow processes deliver correct materials to right locations on schedule
- Manage material transfer equipment lifecycle, qualification, and operational readiness
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus 8 years manufacturing and operations experience
- 2+ years direct managerial or team leadership experience
- GMP material handling, logistics, or warehouse operations background
- Operational Excellence and Lean Manufacturing methodology experience
- Electronic inventory management systems proficiency
- Biologics or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment experience
