We're seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Supply Chain & Procurement to lead sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, supplier development, logistics, and import operations across a growing manufacturing organization.

This role owns every material that enters the business, including what we buy, who we buy it from, what we pay, when it arrives, and how much inventory we carry. You'll lead a complex supply chain supporting a high-volume manufacturing environment, while managing domestic and international suppliers throughout North America and Asia.

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, you'll be a key member of the Operations Leadership Team and play a central role in balancing cost, service, quality, inventory performance, and supply continuity.

What You'll Own

Materials Management

• Full accountability for all production materials, including:
• • Plywood
  • Particleboard
  • Wood moldings
  • Hardware
  • Finishes
  • Packaging materials
  • Other manufacturing inputs
• Ensure uninterrupted material availability while optimizing inventory investment and working capital.

Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

• Lead all purchasing activities for raw materials and production inputs.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, rebates, and supplier agreements.
• Develop sourcing strategies that support growth, quality, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.
• Deliver measurable cost savings and supplier performance improvements.

Supplier Development

• Identify, qualify, onboard, and develop strategic suppliers.
• Build and maintain secondary and contingency supply sources.
• Conduct supplier business reviews and performance evaluations.
• Establish long-term supplier partnerships capable of supporting a rapidly growing manufacturing environment.

Global Sourcing & Imports

• Manage supplier relationships across Asia, Mexico, and North America.
• Oversee international sourcing activities, freight movement, customs compliance, duties, and broker relationships.
• Develop inventory and purchasing strategies that account for extended international lead times.
• Minimize supply chain disruptions and mitigate global sourcing risks.

Demand Planning & Inventory Management

• Align purchasing decisions with production forecasts and business demand.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess inventory and obsolete stock.
• Monitor inventory performance, turns, and service levels.
• Balance production requirements with working capital objectives.

Technical Product Knowledge

• Develop deep knowledge of materials, specifications, grades, finishes, and component requirements.
• Review technical specifications and hold suppliers accountable for quality standards.
• Partner closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to support product performance.

Transportation & Logistics

• Manage inbound and outbound freight operations.
• Oversee carrier relationships, transportation contracts, rates, routing, and scheduling.
• Ensure timely delivery of inbound materials and outbound finished goods.
• Drive transportation efficiency and freight cost optimization.

Qualifications

Required

• CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) certification required.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive supply chain, procurement, sourcing, or materials management experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience within manufacturing environments.

  • Building products
  • Related downstream wood manufacturing industries
• Hands-on experience managing international sourcing, imports, customs, ocean freight, and cross-border logistics.
• Strong expertise in:

• Experience managing inbound and outbound transportation operations.
• Demonstrated success negotiating supplier agreements and delivering measurable cost savings.

Preferred

• Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
• ERP/MRP systems experience.
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
• Multi-site supply chain leadership experience.

Location & Travel

This position is based in the Atlanta metropolitan area and requires travel to the manufacturing facility in Eatonton, Georgia , approximately one day per week. Successful candidates will be highly engaged with plant operations and comfortable working directly with manufacturing teams to drive results.
