Python Data Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Python Data Engineer for a contract position with a Major Financial Services Firm located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This is a hands-on, technical role responsible for the design and development of database models, data processing jobs, and data extraction/transformation/loading (ETL) pipelines using Python. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with data infrastructure, application layer integration, and AWS cloud services.

Responsibilities:

• Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and load structured and unstructured data
• Provide scoping, estimating, planning, design, development, and support services for project initiatives
• Design, configure, deploy and maintain Python scripts to support AI project initiatives
• Collaborate on AWS infrastructure, including working with S3 for data storage and AWS Glue for ETL pipeline development
• Contribute to Python-based front-end applications, supporting current interfaces
• Design, develop, test, and implement application code
• Track progress and intervene as needed to eliminate barriers and ensure delivery
• Resolve or escalate problems and manage risk for both development and production support

Requirements:

• Proven experience in the design and development of database models and data/batch processing jobs
• Strong proficiency in Python for data manipulation and ETL processes
• Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries
• Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, particularly S3 and AWS Glue
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and implementation

Desired skills:

• Experience with Python-based front-end applications
• Knowledge of Angular

Pay range: $66.00 - $76.00 per hour
