Job Description The Journeyman Electrician will support the operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical systems within a secure government facility environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of facility electrical infrastructure, supporting mission-critical operations and occupant safety. The Journeyman Electrician performs a broad range of electrical maintenance and construction tasks, including troubleshooting electrical distribution systems, installing equipment, conducting preventive maintenance, and responding to service calls. The ideal candidate is a safety-focused professional with a strong technical background and experience working in commercial, institutional, industrial, or government facilities. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical distribution systems, panels, switchgear, lighting systems, motors, transformers, and associated equipment. Diagnose electrical problems and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity. Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Conduct electrical testing, inspections, and system evaluations to verify performance and reliability. Support facility renovation, upgrade, and construction projects involving electrical systems. Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and documentation. Coordinate with facility managers, engineers, contractors, and other trades to support facility operations. Respond to emergency maintenance requests and support mission-critical electrical operations as required. Minimum Qualifications Must be a US Citizen Active Top Secret Security Clearance. High School Diploma or GED. Valid Journeyman Electrician License (or equivalent state-recognized electrical license). Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial or industrial electrical systems. Strong knowledge of electrical theory, National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical safety standards, and industry best practices. Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution systems and equipment. Proficiency using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety. Experience supporting federal, Department of State, Department of Defense, or other secure government facilities. Experience working with emergency power systems, generators, UPS systems, and mission-critical infrastructure. Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), energy management systems, and facility controls. Additional certifications related to electrical maintenance, safety, or facility operations.
