Day in the Life of a Produce Manager The Produce Manager leads the day-to-day operations of the produce department, creating visually appealing, high-quality displays while ensuring organization, freshness, and food safety. This role combines creativity, customer focus, and leadership, overseeing team performance and delivering an exceptional shopping experience that supports the health and well-being of the community. Essential Job Functions Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve concerns professionally Train, schedule, and supervise produce associates Manage department budgets, sales forecasts, inventory, and financial goals Execute merchandising, marketing, and promotional plans Ensure product freshness, proper rotation, code dating, and accurate pricing Receive deliveries, build and maintain displays, and prepare produce for sale Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, labeling, and safety regulations Perform daily operational tasks including cleaning, temperature checks, and inventory management Support corporate and divisional initiatives consistently and effectively Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise and support produce department staff Job Qualifications Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to follow policies, procedures, and instructions Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Self-motivated with a passion for learning and product knowledge Reliable, flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts Prior management experience preferred Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the workday Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push/pull carts or dollies as needed Regular bending, reaching, gripping, and occasional kneeling or twisting Capacity to work safely around wet floors, equipment, and varying temperatures Why Join Albertsons Safeway Albertsons Safeway is a people-first organization committed to inclusion, growth, and exceptional customer service.
