divh2Job Description/h2pstrongPosition Summary:/strong/ppThe Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting physician, PA or NP with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care and procedures./ppstrongEssential Job Functions:/strong/pulliPrepares the examination room. Escorts patient into the room. Cleans examination room when exam is complete./liliMaintains efficient patient flow./liliEnsures proper preparation for patient visit. Prepares pertinent information needed for patient visit./liliCommunicates provides care consistent with age, cultural, spiritual and developmental needs of the patient./liliAnswers the telephone in an appropriate manner. Directs calls and/or takes accurate messages./liliSchedules appointments accurately and appropriately according to departmental guidelines./liliConsistently and accurately stocks examination rooms with all necessary supplies./liliAssists in ordering and maintaining of all supplies as assigned./liliReconciles encounters daily and accurately, according to policy guidelines./liliEffectively communicates problems, concerns or issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager appropriately and promptly./liliUnderstands and performs within scope of practice./liliObtains vital signs: BP, temp, pulse, height weight accurately and completely as required. Documents appropriately in EHR./liliReviews and updates medication list and accurately documents known allergies in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Demonstrates an understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures./liliAccurately documents allergies in EHR./liliAppropriately enters orders and schedules appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR./liliProvides referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR./liliAppropriately adheres to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste./liliMaintains proficiency with department specific equipment, troubleshoots and reports malfunctions promptly/liliFacilitates transition of care to UCC/Hospital/liliDemonstrates flexibility with various work schedules./liliAll other duties as assigned/liliRecognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned./liliProvide scribing services./li/ulpstrongEducation, Certification, Computer Training Requirements:/strong/pulliHigh School Diploma or equivalent, required./liliGraduated from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program, required./lili0-1 year related work experience, required. 2-4 years related work experience, preferred./liliBasic Life Support (BLS) or within 30 days of hire, required/liliAbility to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, required/liliAbility to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner, required/liliBasic proficiency in computer use, required/li/ulpstrongTravel:/strong/ppAbility to commute to satellite offices as needed, required/ppPay Range: $22.02 - $27.07 Hourly/ppThe provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position./ph2Total Rewards at VillageMD/h2pOur team members are essential to our mission to reshape healthcare through the power of connection.
