Bilingual ELL Tutor & Classroom Support Specialist

ELL Tutor Interpreters Position Purpose Providing support to the instructional program within an assigned classroom and resource center with specific responsibility for assisting in the assessment of students' English language acquisition; administering tests; performing classroom clerical tasks and serving as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with non‑English‑speaking persons. Essential Job Functions Assists with instruction of EL students, in a variety of settings. Keeps school and district office updated with current EL information. Assists with EL files. Works under the supervision of the EL teacher of record and building administration. Communicates regularly with the EL teacher and administrators. Communicates with parents, as directed by the EL teacher and/or administrator. Develops good relationships with all staff, including other non‑certified staff, teachers and administrators. Assists with other duties as assigned. Equipment Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, calculator, and telephone. Travel Requirement Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Pay Rate $19.95 per hour. Work Schedule 7.5 hours per day. 182 days per year. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Operating standard office equipment using pertinent software applications. Preparing and maintaining accurate records. Basic math skills. Knowledge of grammar and punctuation in both English and the second language. Coordinating age‑appropriate activities. Knowledge of board policy, district, state and federal regulations/laws. Flexibility. Excellent problem‑solving skills. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to work with a wide diversity of individuals. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Percentile categories: Seldom = Less than 25%; Occasional = 26 to 50%; Often = 51 to 75%; Very Frequent = Greater than 75%.
