Description: The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person. The focus is on creating a caring environment that emphasizes healing and wellness. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. Responsibilities include: Performing and documenting comprehensive assessments in accordance with the nursing scope of practice and hospital policies. Collecting objective and subjective data relevant to patient care. Verifying initial assessments obtained by other healthcare team members. Developing a prioritized problem list based on input from the inter-professional team. Designing actions and interventions relevant to the patient’s culture and age. Determining desired outcomes in coordination with the patient and family according to the medical plan of care. Implementing patient care therapies and procedures with empowerment and clinical autonomy. Explaining procedures, treatments, and processes to patients and families. Taking action to alleviate patient stress and discomfort. Recognizing, responding to, and communicating changes in patient condition. Conducting ongoing assessments and documenting responses to procedures and therapies according to established standards. Setting priorities for the care of multiple patients and organizing workload effectively. Monitoring accuracy and completeness of delegated patient care tasks. Facilitating the discharge process by executing discharge orders timely. Providing input into patient assignments based on staffing and patient acuity. Actively participating in unit-based activities supporting organizational values. Promoting a positive group dynamic and healing environment through words and actions. Assuring nursing excellence in accordance with accepted standards and evidence-based practices.
