Job Opportunity: Heart Failure Specialist

Our organization is seeking a dedicated, board-certified or board-eligible Heart Failure Specialist to join our Cardiology department on a full-time, permanent basis. This role reports directly to the Chief of Cardiology Service and involves providing comprehensive cardiovascular care to adult patients eligible for services at our medical center and its affiliated locations.

• Conduct evaluations and treatments in the designated Cardiology/Heart Failure clinic, following up on referrals from primary care providers.
• Document patient histories and physical examinations, develop care plans, and manage order entries.
• Engage in effective communication with patients and their families, ensuring they are well-informed about their care and treatment options.
• Coordinate follow-up care, notify patients of test results, and perform medication reconciliations.
• Respond to and complete cardiology e-consults as needed.
• Order and oversee necessary outpatient/inpatient procedures, including but not limited to cardioversion, echocardiograms, Holter monitoring, nuclear stress testing, EKGs, and pacemaker checks.
• Participate in educational activities for residents, fellows, APRNs, and PAs.
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to discussions regarding patient outcomes and quality improvement initiatives.

• Experience in advanced heart failure management and familiarity with innovative pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment options.
• Ability to apply national and VA guidelines for cardiovascular disease management.
• Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the U.S.
• Board Certification in Cardiology is preferred; Board Eligibility may be considered. Additional certification in Internal Medicine is also preferred.
• Completion of advanced training in Heart Failure is strongly desired.

This position is based at our facility in Oklahoma City, OK, which serves as the flagship for the Oklahoma VA Health Care System. Our Cardiology department provides care to over 70,000 veterans across a wide geographic area, encompassing 48 counties in Oklahoma and 2 counties in North Central Texas.

Full-time hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

The starting salary ranges from $330,000 to $400,000 annually.

• Recruitment incentives may be available, along with the potential for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000.
