As an EH&S Program Manager, you’ll champion a culture of safety that empowers teams and strengthens every project we touch. In this role, you’ll be the go-to safety leader across construction and renovation work—spending several days each week in the field, coaching teams, assessing high-risk activities, and building programs that prevent injuries before they happen. You’ll collaborate closely with construction safety leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to advance systemwide safety initiatives while balancing onsite rounds, data-driven insights, and team engagement. What You’ll Do Lead daily site safety efforts, including hazard reviews, inspections, and real-time coaching Develop and implement safety programs that elevate awareness and reduce risk Support construction, maintenance, renovation, and large capital build projects Analyze and report safety data to drive KPIs and meet regulatory expectations Participate in the on-call safety rotation (post training) for escalations What You Bring 5+ years in construction with strong safety depth Advanced Excel skills and comfort with EH&S tools Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship building skills Experience in high-risk construction project environments; healthcare a plus but not required TheFacilities Servicesdivision enhances health through leadership, collaboration, and innovation. Learn more about Facilities Services at:Facilities Services | Stanford Health Care The Facilities Infrastructure & Safety (FIS) business unit is vital in ensuring the safety, security, and operational integrity of Stanford Health Care facilities while also managing disaster preparedness and complex building systems to foster a secure healthcare environment.FIS is made up of multiple departments aligned in focus: Environmental Health & Safety, Facility Field Services, Protective Services, Security Services, Office of Emergency Management, Facilities Engineering - Systems, Operational Technology, Facilities Engineering- Infrastructure, Facilities Services Response Center, and Facilities Administration. EnvironmentalHealth and Safety(EH&S)ensuresa safe, compliant, and healthy workplace by managing environmental risks, promoting a culture of safety, and leading accreditation efforts across hospital, clinic, and lab environments. Locations Stanford Health Care What you will do Advise management and staff regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state and federal agencies. Investigate, research and make recommendations regarding best practices with respect to health and safety management. Conduct environmental safety rounding and staff training for assigned programs; Conduct fire drills, equipment and emergency evacuation training (as assigned). Conduct life safety inspections for construction projects. Conduct safety inspections and develops safety manual policies and procedures. Provide all aspects of project management relating to occupational safety and health investigations and inspections. Conduct TJC, Fire/Life Safety regulatory compliance audits; Conduct interviews, review records and recommend corrective actions and performance improvement opportunities. Responsible for the interpretation, coordination, and enforcement of TJC safety standards; maintains regulatory compliance documentation and records. Develop and conduct mandated Environment of Care (EOC) audits in ambulatory and/or hospital facilities. Conduct environmental assessments and recommend mitigation methods as warranted. Develop and present reports to leadership as required. Provide written reports of the conducted audits. Analyze and provide report data and reports results to management and various committees of the hospital. Develop, implement and continuously update safety and environmental health policies and programs to comply with local, state and federal regulations. Identifies, measures and improves environmental health and safety processes. Identify personnel, institutional and material resources needed to accomplish program management objectives. Develops and present annual budgetary requirements for assigned environmental program operations. Manages all aspects of Laser safety program (as assigned) Participate with external task forces, committees and agencies related to health and safety management including those at the hospital, local, regional, state and federal levels. Prepare and reviews reports to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Serves as a technical/regulatory resource in assigned program area and the interpretation of analytical data to determine safety, industrial hygiene or environmental remediation control measures, etc. Responsible for negotiation of compliance issues with regulatory agencies as necessary and track any response to citations/violations should they occur. Responsible for overall day-to-day implementation, training, execution and administration of the Environment of Care (EOC), TJC/Fire safety management plans. Develop and administer budgets and schedules and performance requirements. Responsible for the development, administration, management and oversight of effective health and safety programs (as assigned) to ensure environmental safety and compliance with all various safety, health and environmental regulations and requirements of accrediting and licensure bodies. Work in conjunction with OCIP (Owner Controller Insurance Program) Safety Manager to assist contractors in meeting TJC/EOC regulatory compliance standards. This position may require on-call availability during non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet business needs and respond to emergencies as necessary. Education Qualifications Job requires a Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered. Relevant experience in lieu of degree is in addition to the experience requirements for this position. Experience Qualifications Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus; Ability to manage complex projects and resources (people, costs, and time) across multiple departments; Ability to mediate and resolve complex problems and issues; Ability to provide leadership and influence others; Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job; Knowledge of Accident Investigations; Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area; Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility; Knowledge of new technologies and ability to maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes; Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management; Knowledge of TJC-EOC Standards and Auditing.
