Summary The position is located in a Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC) within the Chief Financial Officer organization. The incumbent serves as a Financial Account Specialist and provides expert technical authority on financial analysis and reporting of patient accounts. Qualifications Applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/31/2026. Time‑in‑Grade and other federal employment requirements apply as specified. Applicants may qualify based on specialized experience, education, or a combination of both: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, GS‑07. Substitution of a master’s degree or equivalent graduate education, or 2 full years of higher‑level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or LL.B or J.D. if related. The selected candidate will report to the designated VHA site and exercise delegated authority for Accounts Management activities for all facilities assigned to the CPAC. Implement and manage all aspects of financial analysis and reporting on patient account activities. Provide guidance and assistance to management on activities involved in analyzing the fiscal position of each CPAC client. Own end‑to‑end reporting and patient account financial analysis activities. Develop ad hoc financial, statistical, and performance reports. Work closely with CPAC clients to ensure delivery of effective reporting solutions that bring value to end users. Implement information systems to provide analytical and reporting capabilities on patient accounts for CPAC clients. Implement reporting applications that complement and enhance CPAC and client reporting capabilities. Provide the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Monitors information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to clients. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others throughout the organization and externally. Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm. Compressed/flexible schedule may be available at the supervisor’s discretion. Telework may be authorized for ad hoc telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
