Clinical Nurse Job Summary The Clinical Nurse provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Essential Duties Education
- Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.
- Attends education programs based on identified learning needs.
- Utilizes patient education materials relevant to patient population with assistance.
- Assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers.
- Assesses developmental level of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.
- Identifies expected patient outcomes.
- Seeks guidance as needed in revising the plan of care.
- Engages in discussions with interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care evaluation.
- Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
- Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required for the patient care plan.
- Utilizes organizational nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
- Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.
- Consults appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues timely.
- Assists in developing goals to promote professional growth.
- Aims to achieve goals and objectives within the identified timeframe or renegotiates with a supervisor.
- Maintains knowledge of activities that facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
- Participates in unit goal development and performance improvement activities.
- Communicates effectively using established systems.
- Promotes cost-effective care and provides feedback to coworkers.
- Remains aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines impacting healthcare.
- Contributes to a safe, clean, and secure environment for all.
- Recognizes data from complex situations to determine care priorities.
- Considers appropriate physical, psychosocial, education, and safety needs during assessments.
- Synthesizes assessment data into a meaningful whole prior to communication with others.
- Anticipates discharge needs for individual patients and families.

- Utilizes available multidisciplinary resources in planning care.
- Employs diverse communication methods to convey planning information.

- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex issues.
- Engages with journals that include studies or articles relevant to practice.
- Presents ideas and questions to staff for applicability assessment.
- One (1) year of nursing experience.
- Able to circulate for C-sections.
- Able to triage for obstetrics.
- N/A
- Nursing Diploma, or
- ADN or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
- BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (
