Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Duration: Ongoing Employment Type: Staff This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus Under minimal supervision, provides nursing care for a group of patients assigned to the nurse based on matching the patients’ needs with the nurse’ competencies. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of nursing. PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Two years in acute care. Previous clinical nursing experience. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE : Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): AHA Basic Life Support - (BLS) - Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role *Should be completed before the end of the orientation period. AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) - must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role *Should be completed before the end of the orientation period. Fetal Heart Monitoring If Novice or New to Service Line RN: (FIRST TIME TAKING COURSES) Intro to Fetal Monitoring (Basic FM) within 30 DOH AWHONN Intermediate FM within 9 months of hire, ensuring they have already completed Basic FM AWHONN Advanced FM within 9 months of completion of Intermediate FM If Experienced to L&D: AWHONN Intermediate FM Upon hire, must show evidence of successful completion of AWHONN Intermediate FM within the past 2 years If no completion in the past 2 yrs, must complete AWHONN Intermediate FM within 6 months AWHONN Advanced FM (AFM) If has current AWHONN completion- renew by recommended renewal date If completed AWHONN Intermediate FM in the past 2 years, must complete AWHONN AFM within 9 months of hire.
