Job Title Environmental Service Worker Department Environmental Services Location 355 Grand Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302 (Jersey City Medical Center) Employment Type Full‑Time Shift Day (7:00 ‑ 3:00) Salary $19.79 per hour Job Overview Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Department, the Environmental Service Worker cleans and supplies patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, and other assigned areas according to standard procedures and the Medical Center’s objectives. Essential Functions Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs Assist in cleaning emergency spills when observed or upon request Cleans housekeeping closet and maintains par levels Collects and transports all waste, including RMW, according to policy Compacts trash or places in containers Damp‑buff and shampoo carpets with approved equipment Dry and wet mop floors of rooms and offices Dust mop and wet mop corridors, stairwells, and other common areas Empty waste receptacles and remove trash Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and request repairs when needed Observe and report needed repairs of equipment, furniture, buildings, and fixtures Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and methods Perform patient discharge cleaning using a 9‑step cleaning procedure Refill paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and toilet seat dispensers Return promptly from errands, breaks, and meals Scrub and burnish floors with approved equipment Transport bulk trash from designated collection points to the compactor area Use and prepare solutions according to procedure Vacuum carpets Scheduling Requirements Day shift: 7:00 ‑ 3:00 Full‑time (40 hours per week) Requires every other weekend and holidays, depending on department needs Qualifications Successful completion of general and department‑specific orientation GED or high school diploma (preferred) Hospital housekeeping experience (preferred) Benefits Paid Time Off (Vacation, Holidays, Sick Time) Retirement Plan Medical and Prescription Drug Insurance Dental and Vision Insurance Disability and Life Insurance Paid Parental Leave Tuition Reimbursement Student Loan Planning Support Flexible Spending Accounts Wellness Programs Voluntary Benefits (e.g., Pet Insurance) Community and Volunteer Opportunities Discounts through partners RWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr RWJBarnabas Health
