Machine Builder / Assembly TechnicianThis role focuses on assembling custom machinery, fabricated metal parts, electrical equipment, and sub-assemblies according to detailed client specifications. You will interpret technical drawings and schematics, build and wire machines, and ensure each piece of equipment meets design requirements and quality standards. After assembly and testing, you will occasionally travel to customer sites to install equipment and train users on operation and basic maintenance.ResponsibilitiesAssemble machinery, equipment, and sub-assemblies using a variety of tools and equipment according to technical drawings, schematics, and written or verbal instructions.Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics to ensure accurate machine assembly and wiring.Perform electrical assembly and wiring of machines and control components, ensuring proper connections and functionality.Use basic computer skills to open, view, and interpret technical information, drawings, and documentation.Understand the overall machine design and purpose to ensure assemblies function as intended and meet client specifications.Inspect work for accuracy, quality, and completeness, maintaining a high level of attention to detail and consistency.Work collaboratively as a productive member of the team to support on-time completion and shipment of custom equipment.Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on equipment and assemblies as needed.Apply basic mathematics, reading, and writing skills to measure, calculate, and document work accurately.Support machine assembly processes, including mechanical fitting, alignment, and adjustment of components.Participate in occasional travel to customer sites to install, set up, and commission custom equipment.Train clients on the operation, basic maintenance, and safe use of their equipment after installation.Follow 5S and Lean Manufacturing practices to maintain an organized, efficient, and safe work area.Assist with painting or finishing tasks related to machinery and components, as required.Adhere to all safety procedures, including consistent use of required personal protective equipment such as eye protection and safety footwear.Essential SkillsProven machine building and mechanical assembly experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics.Hands-on electrical assembly and wiring skills for machinery and related equipment.Strong technical aptitude and ability to work with a variety of tools and equipment.Basic computer skills sufficient to open, view, and interpret technical documents and information.Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to consistent, high-quality workmanship.Ability to work effectively as part of a team to support on-time project completion and shipments.Capability to maintain and perform basic repairs on equipment and assemblies.Basic skills in mathematics, reading, and writing to support measurement, documentation, and communication.Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform repetitive tasks throughout most of the workday.Ability to lift 50–75 pounds as required by the role.Strong manual dexterity and excellent hand-eye coordination for precise assembly work.Ability to distinguish between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.Commitment to wearing required personal protective equipment, including eye protection and safety footwear.High school diploma or equivalent.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with painting or finishing of machinery and components.Familiarity with 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.Experience working with clients in industries such as railroad, mining, automotive, renewable energy, or aerospace.Comfort with occasional travel to customer sites for installation and training.Strong sense of craftsmanship and pride in producing high-quality custom equipment.Why Work Here?You will join a long-established, family-owned manufacturer that has been designing and building custom machinery for over a century. Eye protection and safety footwear are required at all times, and adherence to safety procedures is essential. Occasional travel to customer sites is part of the role, where you will assist with installation and training in operational industrial settings.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Hanover, PA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $58240.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Workplace TypeThis is a fully onsite position in Hanover, PA.
