Finish CarpenterThis role combines finish carpentry with industrial paint preparation in a busy shop environment. You will support the painting team by helping to prep and paint parts in a spray booth using spray guns and pressure pots, while also performing carpentry-related tasks such as door installation, framing, and general construction work. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort with physical labor, and the ability to work consistently on a full-time schedule with occasional Saturday hours.ResponsibilitiesPrepare parts and surfaces for painting, including sanding, cleaning, and masking to ensure high-quality finishes.Assist spray painters in the paint booth, including setting up and operating spray guns, HVLP equipment, and pressure pots under direction.Support industrial painting operations by organizing materials, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and following all shop procedures.Perform finish carpentry tasks such as door installation, framing, and related construction activities as needed.Use basic hand tools and equipment safely and effectively for both carpentry and paint prep work.Measure and mark materials accurately using a tape measure to support precise cuts, installations, and assembly.Handle and move materials, components, and equipment, including lifting items up to 50 pounds regularly.Work collaboratively with the shop and painting teams to meet production schedules and maintain consistent workflow.Follow safety guidelines, including proper use of ventilation, protective equipment, and handling of paints and related materials.Adapt to varying workloads and assist in other shop tasks as required to support overall operations.Essential SkillsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure accurately.Experience using basic hand tools safely and effectively.Experience in labor-intensive work such as construction, carpentry, or industrial environments.Hands-on experience with paint preparation tasks, including sanding and surface prep.Familiarity with painting processes, including working in a paint booth.Ability to work full-time hours from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with HVLP spray systems and pressure pot equipment.Experience in finish carpentry, including door installation and framing.Exposure to construction, sheet metal, or shear operations.Experience with industrial painting and spray gun usage.Comfort working with sanding tools and other prep equipment.No formal certifications required.No specific medical clearances indicated.Why Work Here?You will join a stable, family-owned organization that values hard work, reliability, and long-term employment. Standard hours are approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., resulting in a workweek that often totals around 55 hours. The setting is hands-on, physically active, and production-focused, requiring appropriate work attire suitable for a shop and painting environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Clemens, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
