Job Description

As a Security Officer Access Assurance in Norfolk, VA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. Join Allied Universal at a dynamic campus location where you will help manage access control, monitor entry points, verify credentials, and support students, staff, and visitors with outstanding customer service and communication. In this role, you will remain visible to help deter security-related incidents while working as part of a team that values agility, reliability, innovation, and integrity.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities at an educational location.
• Monitor access control points, verify identification and/or credentials, and help to deter unauthorized entry while maintaining professional interactions with students, staff, visitors, and vendors.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate relevant details to supervisors and/or campus contacts as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, common areas, and perimeter locations to identify unusual activity and report security-related concerns.
• Support visitor management activities by assisting with sign-in processes, directing guests to approved destinations, and documenting access-related events according to site procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
