SEBS EOF Summer Session (Internal/External Biology Instructor) Position Information Posting Dates Open: June 5, 2026 – Close: June 15, 2026. Position Status Part‑time. Posting Summary Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) Educational Opportunity (EOF) is seeking a non‑credit instructor to provide in‑person instruction to students in the SEBS EOF Summer START‑UP at Rutgers University. The term runs from July 6–July 31, 2026, with an initial virtual orientation week (July 6‑10) followed by in‑person instruction (July 13‑31). The instructor will teach developmental and/or college‑level biology courses, prepare and deliver lectures, moderate discussions, administer and grade examinations, maintain accurate grade and attendance records, and be available to students during the orientation week via email, phone, or virtual conference. After orientation, all instruction occurs on the Livingston Campus in New Brunswick, NJ. Salary and Benefits Minimum salary: $3,200. Responsibilities Work closely with Summer START‑UP students to improve their knowledge in biology. Develop lesson plans for the assigned biology course, utilizing the approved curriculum. Develop clearly stated course objectives and learning outcomes. Ensure course content remains current and meets learning objectives. Collaborate with colleagues to develop or modify the curriculum. Assess students' progress by grading assignments, papers, exams, and other work. Hold office hours as assigned. Attend weekly staff meetings. Maintain accurate classroom records and use the required course management system. Meet deadlines and evaluate student work in a timely manner, including submitting midterm and final grades. Program Dates and Schedule Summer START‑UP 2026: July 6–31, 2026. Virtual orientation week: July 6‑10, 10:40 am‑12:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In‑person instruction: July 13‑31, 10:40 am‑12:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Faculty meetings: Wednesdays 1:30 pm‑3:00 pm (virtual). Closing ceremony: Friday, July 31 (in‑person). Qualifications Doctoral or Master’s degree in a related science and a minimum of two years of college‑level teaching experience. Required skills include superior communication, ability to connect with students, faculty, and staff, adeptness at handling a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment, and familiarity with Zoom and Canvas platforms for virtual instruction.
