Abstractor IX – Land Court Registration Recruitment Number 24-0066 | Salary: $5,541 to $7,015 per month (SR-21, Step C to I). This recruitment is to establish a list of qualified candidates for current and future vacancies. Responsibilities Serve as head of a document review section in Land Court registration; examine conveyancing instruments and other documents, issue Certificates of Title and memoranda of encumbrances. Make final independent judgment and decisions on issuance of Certificates of Title and making of memoranda of encumbrances which are conclusive as to all matters contained therein. Qualifications Legal Authorization to Work: Citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment. General Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience involving preparing, reviewing, or extracting information from legal documents and/or records dealing with real property ownership or transactions. Specialized Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience involved in examining and analyzing real property ownership records and documents to determine and evidence title to real property. At least one year of this experience must be comparable to the Abstractor VI level. Abstractor VI Duties (for comparison): Examine land titles by searching public records, reviewing legal documents, summarizing and recording pertinent information that determines ownership and condition of title; prepare worksheets showing title history and encumbrances; review land transaction documents for indexing changes in ownership; perform other assigned duties. Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of supervisory work experience including planning, organizing, scheduling, directing work of others, assigning and reviewing their work, advising on work problems, training subordinates, and evaluating performance.
