Manages the check-in and registration process, interview patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients charts. Draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients./ph3Job Requirements/h3pEducation/pp High School Diploma required/pp Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred/ppWork Experience/pp 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required/pp Front Desk experience preferred/pp Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire/ppo Must be obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA) ./ph3Certification Requirements/h3pOne of the following certifications is required for candidates with less than three years of Medical Assistant experience :/pp CCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA National Healthcareer Association)/pp CMA Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA American Association of Medical Assistants OR CHP- Certified Health Professionals)/pp RMA Registered Medical Assistant (AMT American Medical Technologists OR AAH- American Allied Health OR ARMA- American Registry of medical Assistants)/pp NCMA National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT National Center for Competency Testing)/pp NRCMA Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP National Association for Health Professionals)/ph3Certification Alternatives/h3pIn lieu of an approved MA certification, candidates may qualify with the following:/ppExperience-Based Pathway/pp 3+ years of Medical Assistant work experience AND/pp 1+ year of experience in a Hospital, Emergency Room, or Urgent Care setting/ppNote: Candidates hired without an approved MA certification must obtain one within 6 months of their start date to remain eligible for continued employment as a Certified Medical Assistant./ppAlternative Credentials (accepted at time of hire)/pp Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN, or RN/pp EMT Emergency Medical Technician (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)/pp Paramedic (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)/pp CNA Certified Nursing Assistant/ph3Additional Requirements/h3p CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) certification must be obtained within two weeks of start date./ph3Essential Functions/h3p Conduct patient registration, which includes securing required paperwork and insurance documentation, and verification of insurance and patient eligibility./pp Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments for assigned center./pp Coordinate provider referrals to assigned Specialist./pp Answer patient questions regarding their care and keep them informed of their status./pp Inform technical staff of patient flow./pp Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit/pp Perform preliminary physical test (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed./pp Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to provider./pp Responsible for stocking supplies and maintenance of exam rooms, front desk, and reception area; ensure providers have medical supplies needed./pp Responsible for completing order sheets to maintain supply inventory levels; regularly check expiration dates on supplies./pp Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files./pp Answer phone calls, collect and sort daily incoming and outgoing postal correspondence/pp Ensure reception is well maintained/pp Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up./pp Perform opening and closing duties, which includes cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building./pp Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed./pp All other duties as assigned./ph3Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required/h3p Basic Medical Assistant duties/pp Ability to type quickly, basic computer knowledge/pp Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel/pp Detail oriented, able to rely on experience and judgment to perform a variety of tasks, participate on a team, and accomplish goals/pp Exceptional written and verbal communication skills/pp Able to interact and treat all persons with fairness, respect and sensitivity to cultural/social difference/ppIf you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, youll enjoy your career with us!/ppNote : This job description is not inclusive of all the duties of the position.
