Senior Human Resources Generalist

Maglio Companies

Description The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for supporting and executing Human Resources operations across Maglio Companies in a fast-paced food manufacturing, production, warehouse, and distribution environment. This role serves as a trusted partner to employees and leadership by supporting employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, policy administration, leave management, compliance, workforce planning, HR systems, and employee engagement initiatives. This role exercises independent judgment and discretion when handling employee matters, investigations, policy interpretation, recruiting activities, leave administration, and employment-related recommendations. Because a significant portion of the workforce is Spanish-speaking, this position requires the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish to support employees, managers, training initiatives, investigations, and day‑to‑day HR operations. This role operates in both office and production environments and maintains a visible, hands‑on HR presence to support employee engagement, communication, and business needs. Essential Functions Partner with managers and supervisors to support employee relations matters, workplace concerns, conflict resolution, investigations, performance management, and corrective action processes. Conduct or support workplace investigations involving policy concerns, employee complaints, behavioral issues, attendance concerns, and other employment‑related matters. Provide guidance to leaders and employees regarding company policies, procedures, workplace expectations, and employment practices. Effectively recommend employment actions including coaching, corrective action, performance improvement plans, transfers, promotions, and termination recommendations in partnership with HR leadership and operational management. Exercise independent judgment and discretion when interpreting policies, assessing workplace concerns, and supporting employment decisions. Maintain employee confidentiality and appropriately manage sensitive employment information. Assist leaders with employee coaching, documentation, one‑on‑one discussions, and performance development activities. Support workforce engagement and employee retention initiatives. Lead and support full‑cycle recruiting activities for hourly and salaried positions. Coordinate staffing needs with department leadership and support workforce planning efforts. Develop and manage recruiting advertisements, sourcing activities, candidate pipelines, and recruitment partnerships. Screen applications, conduct phone and onsite interviews, coordinate hiring manager interviews, and support candidate selection decisions. Conduct reference checks, background screening coordination, and pre‑employment processes. Prepare and coordinate employment offers and onboarding activities. Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding processes in English and Spanish as needed. Support onboarding completion, employee integration, and early retention initiatives. Maintain and support employee data, employment records, organizational updates, and HR system integrity within Paylocity and related HR systems. Process employee transactions including status changes, pay changes, promotions, transfers, and employment documentation. Maintain HR policies, forms, job descriptions, and related employment documentation. Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies. Coordinate and support leave administration including FMLA, ADA accommodations, return‑to‑work coordination, and related employment processes. Support workers’ compensation administration, injury reporting, and related documentation as assigned. Assist with unemployment responses, audits, and employment verification requests. Maintain I‑9 and personnel record compliance in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Support attendance administration and timekeeping practices while ensuring consistent policy application and documentation integrity. Maintain workforce data and support HR reporting, metrics tracking, and workforce analysis. Track and report key workforce metrics including turnover, retention, recruiting activity, attendance trends, and staffing progress. Support leadership with HR‑related reporting and workforce planning information. Assist with HR audits and compliance‑related documentation reviews. Serve as an HR resource for both English‑and Spanish‑speaking employees and leadership. Translate or assist with bilingual communication, training, and employee education efforts as needed. Support employee engagement, recognition, leadership development, and culture‑building initiatives. Facilitate HR training, policy communication, and workplace education programs. Maintain effective communication with leadership and employees regarding HR priorities, workplace expectations, and organizational initiatives. Support continuous improvement efforts focused on employee experience, workforce stability, communication, and organizational effectiveness. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment in all Human Resources matters. Support special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Competencies Strong employee relations and conflict resolution skills. Effective investigation and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to exercise independent judgment and sound decision‑making. Strong recruiting and talent acquisition capabilities. Knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and workplace compliance. Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish. Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality. Strong coaching and leadership support skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Commitment to professionalism, accountability, and purposeful communication. Ability to adapt to changing operational and workforce needs. Requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive Human Resources experience required. Experience supporting employee relations, investigations, recruiting, leave administration, and employment compliance required. Fluent bilingual communication skills in Spanish and English (spoken and written) required. Manufacturing, food production, warehouse, or industrial workforce experience strongly preferred. Experience with Paylocity or comparable HRIS systems preferred. Working knowledge of employment laws including: FMLA, ADA, Wage and hour laws, EEO and anti‑discrimination laws, and Employee relations and workplace compliance practices. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and HR systems. Professional certification such as PHR, SHRM‑CP, SPHR, or SHRM‑SCP preferred. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or off‑shift support as operational and workforce needs require. Work Environment Work is performed in a combination of office, food manufacturing, warehouse, and production environments. The Senior HR Generalist regularly interacts with employees and leadership throughout operational areas to support recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, investigations, training, and day‑to‑day workforce needs. Employees may work in or around refrigerated production areas ranging from approximately 35°F to 50°F, wet or slippery floors, forklift and warehouse traffic, production machinery, food safety and sanitation environments, and moderate to loud noise levels commonly associated with food manufacturing and distribution operations. The position requires regular movement between office and operational settings and the ability to maintain compliance with company food safety, GMP, PPE, and workplace safety requirements while supporting employees and business operations. Due to the nature of manufacturing and workforce support, employees may occasionally be required to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, or varying schedules to support recruiting activities, investigations, onboarding, employee relations matters, or operational and workforce needs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Physical Demands This position requires regular movement and physical activity throughout office, production, warehouse, and operational environments. Employees must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday while moving between office and operational areas to support employees, meetings, investigations, recruiting, and HR‑related activities. The role requires frequent use of hands and arms for computer work, documentation, telephone communication, and HR systems administration. Employees must be able to bend, reach, squat, and navigate active production and warehouse environments as needed while maintaining awareness of workplace and operational conditions. The position occasionally requires lifting and carrying materials, supplies, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to review documents, computer screens, workplace conditions, and operational environments. Employees must also be able to safely wear and utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when entering operational areas, which may include hearing protection, safety glasses, freezer gear, gloves, protective footwear, or other required equipment. The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
