Phlebotomist I - Kettering, OH Location: 500 Lincoln Park Boulevard, Kettering, OH Duration: 3+ months Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM Vaccination: Hepatitis B TB MMR T-DAP Varicella Color vision Position Summary The Phlebotomist I will perform blood draws and specimen collection while ensuring accurate labeling, processing, documentation, and handling of specimens. The role also involves troubleshooting, maintaining workflow, and supporting a fast‑paced laboratory or hospital environment. Key Responsibilities Perform venipunctures using straight and butterfly needles. Collect, label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to established procedures. Verify laboratory requisitions and patient information for accuracy. Properly explain the blood draw and specimen collection process to patients. Ensure specimens are stored and transported at the appropriate temperature. Maintain accurate records and perform equipment/area decontamination. Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and department procedures. Attend required annual training. Update patient information and respond to telephone inquiries. Read laboratory results when appropriate to satisfy inquiries. Troubleshoot issues and make workflow recommendations as needed. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast‑paced laboratory or hospital setting. Valid phlebotomy certification, if required by the state. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
